I bought one of these in 1979 when gas prices went sky high dud to the oil embargo. Mine was a V-6 with a 5 speed. It was a sweet little car. A 4 banger with auto would not be on my wish list.

ReplyDeleteI was in love with these in the 70's and bought one "new" in 76 with the 4 speed and V6. My dealer was totally inept at servicing a Euro built hot rod. The brakes never worked until finally I had to fix them, the fuel gauge was always off and I walked home several times (ran out of gas). It was a pig to drive in snow, but a lot of fun, I could hang the atil out in any gear.

ReplyDeletewe 'Muricans wanted their automatics and A/C, so not many sold. Something doesn't ring true about the miles-Seller says it was parked 19 years before he got it. That means 128,000 miles in 4 years??? Also I would inspect the floors closely-all those windows seals he replaced must have leaked if it was parked outside.
It's an almost 40 year old car. It may have been off the road for 19 years, and a bit more for the strip and repaint by the current owner, but the other 21 years is plenty of time to put 128K on it.

ReplyDeleteMy first car was a 74 Capri with a 2.8 stick. I loved the car until I drove it into a tree. I also had a four cylinder auto that was painfully slow and then another V6 stick but it got sideswiped. I would like to find another but they are not so easily found.
