The BMW 2002 is a scrumptious collectible classic that it still affordable for the average car buyer. The Tii version (touring internationale injected) is the premium version to get -- it adds fuel injection, rarity, and some special under hood parts to up the cool factor on an already cool car. Tii prices have been steadily increasing for the past few years and seem like a good bet for value of a drivable classic in the next decade or so. Find this 1972 BMW 2002 TiiThis blue classic is a small bumper roundie version, making it one of the more desirable examples of the BMW 2002. The paint looks in good shape, and all the external trim looks presentable -- if the reserve is anywhere near the current bidding it could be a fantastic deal.
The Tii badge on the back of a "New Class" BMW indicates that it is equipped with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, larger oil feed/return lines, big brake discs/booster and a few other mechanical goodies. Only 7500 of the Tii edition were made for the US market and today they demand a significant premium over a standard 1600/2002. The 2.0 liter inline four in this el-cheapo version is the same engine that puts out 130 horsepower in the over-restored 30-large asking price examples for sale.
The interior of this BMW 2002Tii is presentable, but who knows what horror lurks under the blue seat covers.
