5k: Big Blue: 1966 Chrysler Newport

Another Daily Turismo post, another sub $5k classic that you can drive home today, no need for tow dolly or trailer.  The 4th generation Chrysler Newport was sold from 1965 to 1968 and offers a big Mopar driving experience at a Pinto price.  Find this 1966 Chrysler Newport offered for $4,000 in Wilton, CT via craigslist.  Tip from Cory.

You aren't going to impress the boys at Pebble Beach in this big boat, but it'll do fine at the local car show, rust and all.  The big C-platform Newport shared its full sized chassis with the 300, New Yorker, Polara and Fury.

Under the hood is a 383 cubic inch V8, that almost looks small in the enormous Newport engine bay, but it is rated at 270 horsepower and should be decent for pushing the big Newport body around.

It is difficult to tell the interior condition on the dimly lit pictures, but the seller describes it as "nice condition" and recently "re-upholstered."

See a cooler old classic boat? tips@dailyturismo.com

  1. I had one of these in college. It came in the middle of a run of $500 cars (run 'em for a year with no maintenance and then off to the junkyard to be replaced by another $500 beater). The Chrysler was the best of them all. I should have treated that one nicer,
