5k: Seller Sub: 1966 Volvo 122S Amazon Wagon

The Amazon was designed all the way back in the early 50's, started rolling out of the factory in 1956, and in typical Volvo stubborn fashion it soldiered on all the way through 1970 with very few changes. Today's Amazon wagon comes to us via a seller submission from Oprah85 on ebay and looks like a good one.  Find this 1966 Volvo 122S Amazon Wagon in Mission Hills, CA for sale on ebay, currently bidding at $3,850 with 4 days to go.

This Amazon wagon is covered with an older repaint of the original color code 96 dark blue and the chrome looks great for a driver.  The engine is a later B20 with bigger valves, a single Weber carb and should be good for something more than the stock 125 horsepower. As far as 1960s manual transmission equipped wagons that are fun to drive go - it doesn't get much better than the Amazon.

  1. The way it sits it will bring at least 5,500.00 because it is unrusty and has a newer motor good for 115HP. The interior is servicable, but far from original and I would have to tear it out , especially the dash!I have never seen an older than 1963 one-not '56!

  2. Oprah, you are the fine purveyor of my fix, DT is your shadowy street corner. This Amazon would make a perfectly satisfactory pick-up substitute for me (and most) given the typical items I find on my Lowes and Home Depot receipts; and would look super-cool making that big box trip every time. Don't fire the hate mail just yet but I would give it just a bit more "stance" and run the rest as-is. I'll bet that b20 sounds pretty sweet when it's uncorked and the resultant rush of air through the open windows may be enough to mitigate the consequences of no A/C down here in SoFla. Like a lot.

  3. This looks like an excellent deal for the non-purist, me for example, I do like all the mods. Nice upgrades, solid body, fill 'er up with gas and enjoy.

    cheers....JeffH

  5. Fine purveyor, or Volvo pusher-man? Oprah is the Walter White of old Volvo wagons. I''ve got a major jones for an Amazon wagon, and I don't know how much longer I can hold out!!!
First it's the Mint Green Amazon: http://www.dailyturismo.com/2014/01/5k-dt-stickered-1967-volvo-122s-amazon.html
    And now this Blue Beauty!!
Agree with just a little more "stance".
Why do I find these wagons sooo sexy?!?!
