5k: Clean And Classy: 1966 Ford Galaxie 500

The famous vaudevillist George Burns is rumored to have said (between puffs on his El Producto); "Don't stay in bed, unless you can make money in bed."  George (who passed in 1996 at 100 years old) must have not been familiar with this internet thing, because making money in bed is just a matter of having WiFi in your bedroom and picking the right cheap classics.  Find this 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 for sale in Santa Barbara, CA for $3,500 via craiglist.  Tip from Andrey.

Thirty five hundred bones doesn't get you much in the classic car world these days, maybe a rusted hulk of a Mustang or a running, but ugly, (not butt ugly..please) '66 VW Beetle.  To find an original condition big 60s sedan with a nice interior and good running big block V8 is not the norm.  The Ford 390 cubic inch FE V8 is good for 275 horsepower and 405 ft-lbs of torque.

From the pictures and description this appears to be a total survivor, but even with a respray or two, this isn't a bad price for something you are going to drive around.  Interior looks phenomenal, just find a steering wheel horn ring and its totally ready for the streets.  Oh, here's one on ebay for $80.

  1. Oh. Yes. Totally. If it had factory air, I'd be all over this.

  2. If you want to do a road trip in Brazil, this is the car for it, never mind the AC. These were built well into the 70's there and were the car of choice for government officials in high office and the well heeled. So when you are done your trip, you will have no problem selling the car at a nice premium as they never had a 390/ 6.5 L option.

The Brazilian Real is about 2 for 1 USD
