5k Flash: 1988 Pontiac TransAm GTA

The 3rd generation Pontiac TransAm is best known for its role use in the TV series Knight Rider as KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) a bulletproof flying car with an effeminate Mr. Feeny voice chip.  This 1998 Pontiac TransAm GTA with 350 V8 and automatic transmission is available for sale on ebay in Hatboro, PA currently bidding at $3,000 with 4 days to go.

This Firebird TransAm only has 88k miles on the odometer and looks very nice for its age.

The 1988 TransAm with optional L98 5.7 liter V8 has  235 horsepower and 335 ft-lbs of torque - and is unfortunately mated to an automatic transmission.

This digital dash equipped classic has an interior that the seller rates as fair - but in all fairness could have been rated as fair when new...

Not a bad way to spend a few grand if you want a V8 pony car from the late 80s. Gotta love those basketweave GTA wheels!

  1. The woman who squeezed me out had a 1986 version of this. I lived with her and her new husband for about a year. He was mostly deaf, an asshole, but he bought her one of these to keep her.

Thing is he would only drive it at the exact speed limit or, in most cases, far below. Nothing like being a teenaged boy, in a new school (even if only for a year), being chauffered around in KITT at 35 mph in a 50 mph zone.

After that year long debacle I went back to live with my dad. At least he had a '77 Corvette.

This one is close enough to the one in my meories. I want to buy this car and take it to a track and hold the pedal to the floor until it asplodes.

  2. asplodes = explodes, blows up, etc. I forget where I picked it up but I use it fairly regularly now just to mix it up.
