5k Flash: 1987 Suzuki Samurai 4X4; Original Survivor

The 2nd generation Samurai is a compact off-roader from Suzuki, built from 1981-1998.  The Samurai makes a miserable ride on tarmac, but is legendary for its off-road capability, with one recently beating the Jeep record for highest altitude achieved for a 4-wheeled vehicle at 21,942 ft.  We think the Samurai is a logical choice for someone needing 4WD capabilities as they are cheap, easy to fix and built like small tanks.  This 1987 Suzuki Samurai is for sale in San Bernardino, CA and currently bidding on ebay for $2,550 reserve-not-met with less than 1 day to go.

This Samurai has recently been repainted its original factory color.

Powered by a 1.3 liter inline4 cylinder engine putting out 63 horsepower isn't a recipe for acceleration, but it gets the job done.

Minimalistic on the inside and easy to hose out with a garden hose after mud-bogging.

We think the Samurai is an excellent alternative to a Wrangler for the cheapskate on a fuel budget.
