The Mk II Celica Supra was Toyota's answer to the 6-cylinder Datsun Z-cars and shared many components with its Celica little brother. The Supra was designed to be a drivers car with its 4 wheel independent suspension, tuned by Lotus, and featuring a variable rate rack-and-pinion steering system. This 1982 Toyota Celica Supra Mk II Performance-Type is for sale in Minneapolis, MN currently bidding on ebay for $5,500 with a few hours to go. (edit 1/4/13 11:52AM PST - we had the wrong link posted originally - but just fixed it and the auction failed to meet reserve at $5,500)
The Supra was available in two trims, Performance-Type and Luxury-Type; of course we prefer the P-Type for its limited slip differential, cloth seats, 5 speed manual and sweet fiberglass fender flares.
The burgundy interior has some sweet 70s vibe, but it looks really well preserved for a 30 year old Japanese car.
The Supra is powered by a 2.6 liter inline 6 cylinder dual-overhead-cam (but only 2 valves per cylinder) 5M-GE engine pumping out 145 horsepower and 155 ft-lbs of torque.
We think the rear louvers look sweet on the white exterior and wouldn't change a thing on this Japanese classic. It won't blow your wabaki off with its 0-60mph of 9.8 seconds, but the Mk II Supra is certainly an interesting choice for the budget minded Daily Turismo.
