Last of the Mo Cheap Ones: 1991 Toyota Supra

Supra fans rejoiced at the recent launch of the 2019 fifth generation Toyota Supra --  it had been 17 years since something badged as a Supra had been sold at Toyota dealerships. Even though it is mostly just a restyled BMW, it gave Supra fans reason to rejoice, but they were wrong.  They should have been sinking every last dollar of their hard earned cashed into classic 3rd generation Supra because they are the latest and most modern generation of Supra to not be sucked into the vortex of overpriced enthusiasm appreciation that has enveloped the MkIV Supra.  Get one while they are still cheap. Find this 1991 Toyota Supra offered for $6900 in Dewey, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Supra 7MGE Power: 1961 Ford Ranchero

This next car will invoke some serious "why would you do it?" and "why wouldn't you do it?" discussions with car guys.  It could be the best car to meet your future inlaws and simultaneously the worst car to meet your future inlaws.  A Toyota 7M-GE from the 80s also the best possible upgrade to a 60s Ford inline-6 and also the worst engine to put into your El Cami---errr--Ranchero. You be the judge. Find this 1961 Ford Ranchero offered for $4900 in San Diego, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

TerraMinta: 1983 Toyota Celica Supra P-Type

The 2nd-gen MA60 Supra, like its predecessor, still fell under the Celica umbrella, being based on the economy coupe but with a longer nose, inline six-cylinder engine, and sportier MO. These cars are solid if not the most exciting classics on the market, but if you're looking for your ticket into 80s Japanese Radwood perfection, this might just be it. Find this 1983 Toyota Celica Supra P-Type for sale in Rancho Cucamonga, CA for $10,000 via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Newish: 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo

I don't think I'd ever go around claiming that a car with 74k miles on the odometer could be considered new, or even newish...unless that car is 28 years old and then you realize this thing has only been drive 2600 miles a year since new.  Find this 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo offered for $10,500 in Derby, VT via craigslist.  Tip from Jim H.

Sick Cylinders Man: 1982 Toyota Celica Supra P-Type

In 1982 Toyota upped their sports car offering by redesigning their Celica and adding more beef to the inline-6 option known as the Celica Supra.  Of course the one you want is known as the P-Type, which sounds like something only available to urologists, but actually mean Performance-Type as opposed to the more luxury oriented L-Type.  Find this 1982 Toyota Celica Supra P-Type offered for $3,500 in Western Massachusets via craigslist.  Tip from Jdah.

Low Mile Creampuff: 1979 Toyota Celica Supra

In the late 1970s Toyota decided they needed a car to compete with Nissan's popular inline-6 powered Z-car, so they took the 4-cylinder powered Celica, added 5 inches of length to the front end (to accommodate 2 additional cylinders) and called the new car a Celica Supra.  The war of the Japanese sports coupes was on.  Find this 1979 Toyota Celica Supra here on eBay bidding for $1,650 with 2 days to go, located in Cleveland, OH.

Hybrid: 1981 Toyota Celica Supra Hatchback

All Toyotas, All Day continues with this next Yota that combines the classic Celica name with Supra attitude.  It was really just a Celica with an inline-6 shoved where the inline-4 normally lived (and a longer snout) but it was the start of a few decades of competition with Nissan over who makes the better 6-cylinder sports car (spoiler alert -- it was BMW).  Find this 1981 Toyota Celica Supra Hatchback here on eBay bidding for $5,500 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Cornelius, NC with 5 days to go.

Sheep In Wolf's Clothes: 1993 Toyota Supra Mk IV

A refrigerator white, automatic, non-turbo Mk IV Supra on the front page of Daily Turismo -- sacrilege!! Needs a 2-stroke swap stat!!  Listen folks, drop the pitch forks and hear me out on this one...after all, it is All Toyota, All Day. Remember how for years the Porsche 912 was this derelict model only driven by the creepy old guy down the street who you swore was a child molester?  Anybody who was somebody drove a proper flat-6 powered 911, so prices for the 912 languished for years, but one day (in 2010 to be precise) it became cool to drive slow and the 912 became as ludicrously priced as it is slow.  Bring that same perspective into the Mk IV Supra world and you'll see that prices for the 6-speed Turbo models haven't cooled in the slightest since the Fast and Furious bump, but you might be able score a deal on a non-turbo slushbox.  Like this 1993 Toyota Supra Mk IV bidding here on eBay for $16,225 reserve-not-met with less than one day to go, located in Fairmont, WV.

2k: Japanese Classic: 1983 Toyota Supra A60

The second generation Toyota Supra (A60) was built from 1982 through 1986 on a shared platform with the Celica and JDM Carina sedan.  The Supra was the headliner in Toyota's lineup and featured unique front end styling, big fender flares, and available inline-6 powerplants.  Find this 1983 Toyota Supra offered for $2,200 in Carson City, NV via craigslist.  Tip from Andrew M.

10k: Blue Beauty: 1987 Toyota Supra

The Mk III Toyota Supra offered a staggering level of technology when it hit the showrooms in 1986.  The Supra was powered by the 7M-GTE, a turbocharged twin-cam, 4-valve, distributor-less engine that was miles ahead of its competition and only had a minor problem of consistently blowing up head gaskets due to an improper head bolt torque from the factory (which can be easily remedied by the home mechanic). It was an affordable sports coupe package that gave the Corvette a run for its money and hinted at the Japanese sports car madness that arrived a few years later.  Find this 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo bidding for $6,700 here on eBay, located in Salem, OR with 4 days to go.

5k: Good Company: 1985 Toyota Celica Supra Mk II

Ebay is full of well done advertisements with copious hi-resolution photos, detailed specifications and history...but those nice ads come from dealers who slather their cars with a spatula covered in armor-all and want to be paid for their time.  What if you could buy a cool classic from some random dude who has a DT dream garage filled with 5.0 Mustangs, XJ6s, Buick Grand Nationals...and he isn't trying to fund an invasion of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea with his used car profits.  That'd be this guy...selling this 1985.5 Toyota Celica Supra currently bidding for $4,950 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.

5k: 2JZ-G190E: 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E W201 w/ Supra I-6 Swap

The Mercedes-Benz W201 generation 190E was the predecessor to the people's Mercedes - the C-class.  We've featured 2.3-16V  Cosworth powered 190Es in the past, but with a maximum of 185 horsepower, they are a bit pokey.  Today's 190E isn't slow because it has been given an injection of Japanese spice into its plate of schlachtschüssel.  Find this 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E W201 w/ Supra I-6 offered for $6,500 via craigslist.

5k: Best Ebay Listing Ever: 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo MkIII

Here on the pages of Daily Turismo we waste much of our time (and yours too!) ranting about many ebay listings that are an offense against taste and decency, totally lacking in theology and geometry, and ultimately damaging to one's soul....but sometimes a listing appears that makes us think perhaps we are not teetering on the edge of an abyss.  All is well with this 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo MkIII Slushbox for sale in Yorba Linda, CA currently bidding for $5,877 with no reserve and 4 days to go.  Tip from Rod S!
