Whenever I write about an interesting car, I try to reflect some of that car's personality in my words -- perhaps I can make a unique car a bit more interesting...but there are some times when the car is so utterly over the top that I can't say anything to improve the car. First glance turns to an immediate double take nothing short of one of Speedycop's latest LeMons cars. If you want to have the most interesting car on the road -- forget carbon fiber Lamborghinis, vintage Ferraris or V8 Volvos owned by Paul Newman -- THIS is your ticket to being chased by the cell phone camera paparazzi.
The "Muff Mobile" as the seller describes in cringe worthy prose is built on a 1980 Dodge Ram D50, which is a badge engineered version of the compact Mitsubishi Triton pickup (aka Mighty Max). Power comes from a Mitsu 4G52 2.0 liter inline-4 rated at 90 horsepower when it isn't equipped with a giant muffler.

DeleteOne would think, being that this car is actually OWNED by a chain of auto shops, that they would at least get it to run before selling it. But that would probably make too much sense given how this car is so fabulously insane!

DeleteConsidering the really rough condition, the rust, the shot interior, and the junk motor, that's a steep price. Pretty sure you could find a running donor car and some sheet metal and build one of these yourself for half that. But it is funny that the muffler body is rusting out just like a muffler does.

ReplyDeleteNope, I think you can see regular tailpipes coming out at the back. That seems like a HUGE oversight.
