The W126 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was a plus sized luxury cruiser built like a tank from 1979 through 1991. This isn't a car that will carve corners like a Miata or coddle you to sleep like a Buick, but somewhere under layers of granite lives a heart that beats like clock and a ride quality like an orbiting satellite. Find this 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SE here on eBayThis W126 is an absolute cream puff -- it has only 39k miles on the odometer and looks really nice in the hi-res photos provided by the seller, who routinely sells low mile cars on eBay. This one has been on the block for a few rounds, the last time it reached $12,600 before the end of the auction and the reserve was still not met. It will be interesting to see where/when/if the reserve comes off.
The 300SE version of the big S-Class W126 is powered by the 3.0 liter M103 inline-6 mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Power is rated at 179 horsepower and 188 ft-lbs of torque in the US version.

The dealer of this car has some nice stuff in his inventory.
ReplyDeleteHis prices are far too high.
DeleteDid that Dodge Aspen station wagon ever sell? That was a beautiful car in my eyes, but not worth what he wanted...I think the auction ended reserve not met at close to $10-12K.
The dealer has some interesting cars, but needs to work on presentation and proof-read the listings...sigh.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are much too electronically processed in my opinion. The cars appear to have armor-all smeared on the motors and interior that make it look way over done. The dealer should take a look at the Ebay seller "findgreatcars" and see how they present their listings.
I owed a '89 300SE for about four years, wonderful car. It was a little underpowered with the straight six, and a little bit louder on the highway due to the motor displacement. The 4.2 and 5.6 liter versions are better candidates.
ReplyDeleteThis one's an awesome find, but way over priced.
