Tom - and yet sadly there never was the XK140 Ghia ES version. ;)
DeleteYou do bring up a good point - and one that I hadn't considered much. While not unattractive, it isn't the prettiest effort. The front end really lets it down, in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteConcept/Show/Not Real...ugh. Sorry, just not my thing when it comes to guessing a WAI. I mean, how many one-offs are out there (or even two- or three- or four-offs)? It's kinda dumb, if you ask me. It's not too far from just Photoshoping a car together, calling it a "Acme Fire Snack 3000" and then being happy when nobody can figure it out. That would really suck.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Zach; it was a good try and you are not to blame - that's just my take on it. It's much harder to try to fool DTers with an actual production car that was actually produced.
Regardless of my crab cake carping, it was still guessed correctly by my fellow DTers, which further supports my theory that no car on Earth can't be correctly identified by them. Just not me! Because I could care less about fake cars that were never intended for anything other than display.

I could say the exact same thing about your last WAI, K2, except replace "concept/fake/one-off" with "air conditioner unit."

I believe you missed my point. There is no challenge in a one-off. Well, at the very least it's a cheap shot. Again, just my opinion.
DeleteIn defense of Mr. Slim, Mitsubishi made thousands of them and I never stated that it was a car. It was not a concept or non-production in any way.
I knew I'd come under fire for this and I'd warned El Jefe there'd be derision. But that doesn't change my dislike of using cars that aren't really real for the WAI. My choice would be to not play were that the case and that's okay. Just throwing my zero cents out there!
Yes, Zach. Just like the Twister and for the very same reasons. But I am just one man and if folks want to play games with pieces of art, so be it.
DeleteI'm just bitter because people think it's hilarious to try to stump me with things like this and I've had to make it a rule to just stick to production cars because nobody can possibly know every concept and one-off. That's impossible and just plain stupid. It has nothing to do with real cars.
Obviously, I should have asked if it was a real car right off the bat. That was my mistake.
If you'll allow me to make an example, I'm positive that I will achieve nothing more than irritating the issue further. Regardless, here's a one-off car that could be considered a "coachbuilt" car. I swear it's a car (not an air conditioning unit or salad spinner). This picture comes from my personal collection. You tell me if it's fun to figure out what it is. If I don't get a single response, then I'm going to assume I have a point and that I'm not the only one who feels this way about cars that are practically impossible to know about because they were never intended for production. BTW, the car pictured was driven on the street and has been seen by at least a dozen people. As far as I know, it's still on the road. But there's only been one ever made exactly like this one.
DeleteProve me wrong and take an educated stab at what it is. No clues will be given but I will acknowledge a correct guess and that person will receive copious amounts of street cred within the K2 Revolution organization/mind-hive*.

DeleteAnd I do agree that the bar to fool the DT barflies on a production car is much, much higher. What can I say, I was latching onto a quickly solved WAI thread.
