Mid Week Match-Up: Late Model For The Empty Nester

On this week's edition of Mid Week Match-Up (DT's game of find the best car for the cardiologist) we are going to find a late model car for the guy (or gal) who has kids who have just graduated from college.  This is a search for the best sub $20k car for the empty nester who wants something fun.


Budget is $20k because you are flush with cash (but not a zillionaire) now that the college payments are over and you want something newish -- no old projects, just something fun that will seat two adults for this guy/gal.  My money is on the Porsche 911, even an example a few generations old still looks like a sports car and the maintenance for a weekend driver won't be crushing.  Like this 1999 Porsche 911 (996) offered here on eBay for $17,888 buy-it-now, located in Ft Lauderdale, FL.

    1990 Miata with 34K miles. Overpriced by a couple of grand, with a couple of silly, easily reversed "mods". With the 20K you will have a lot left over for guitars and motorcycles.

    C5 Z06 Or maybe C6 Z51 which is about as fast, and more nicely trimmed, but probably not cheap enough yet.

    How cheap can I get my desperately-needed C6 Z06 (assuming that no one's gonna peddle me a Ferrari 575M for the same money)?

    Clown shoe.

    Toyota MR2 Spyder and a couple expensive road bicycles.
