The Ford Mustang started life as a 2+2 coupe/fastback/convertible with a simple V8 and a huge following. It only took a few years and the once simple/light classic morphed into a boy-racer looking burnout/street machine, but the early cars are expensive in any condition and those later (bigger) fastbacks can be found for much better prices. The 351 cubic inch (5.8 liters) Windsor M-code V8 was good for 290 horsepower with the 4-barrel carb and was the highest power small-block option before upgraded to 390 FE power. The 69 Mustang had an astonishing 9 engine options for one model year and the 351 is certainly one of the better choices for good power and acceptable weight over the front axle.
The Mach 1 package added some faux wood trim on the inside, a center console and various other unneeded pieces. The biggest disappointment of the 69 interior is the gauges/dash that aren't nearly as cool as the previous years pieces, but this is part of the reason they are cheaper to buy. This one is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission for proper driving fun.
