Senchurī Club: 1991 Toyota Century V40 Emperor Limo

If you were part of the Japanese royal family shopping for a properly prestigious ride in the early 1990s, it didn't make much sense to buy a Cadillac, a Lincoln, a Rolls Royce or a Mercedes S-Class.  What you needed was something domestic to demonstrate your Japanese pride, but a Supra doesn't have a back seat fit for a king...but there was one car from the land of the rising sun that was appropriately boss.  Find this 1991 Toyota Century V40 Emperor Limo here on eBay offered for $7250 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Orefield, PA.

White Valium: 1998 Buick Century

If you've spent any time behind the wheel of a modern Toyota Camry you won't be impressed by much of anything.  Reliable...sure...but fun?  Nope.  Not even in the slightest.  There is a blandness and safety against anything sport that hat pervades the entire driving experience and reminds me of a 90s front drive Buick.  This is probably not a coincidence because most of the folks who purchased those under sprung Buicks in the 90s are either dead or now drive Camrys/Avalons....which is a shame because the Buick has much more style. So if you want to drive a new Camry, consider this low mile Buick instead. Find this 1998 Buick Century offered for $2800 in Cape Coral, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.

This 1984 Buick Century Olympic Edition Could Be Your Ticket to FWD Glory

If you're not watching the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, then you're missing out. There has been plenty of action and drama, like a Czech snowboarder winning the women's Super-G skiing competition, Russia and various atheletes from Russia being banned from the games due to the huge doping scandal, photo-finish Biathlons and of course some gnarly crashes into fences and subsequent face fulls of snow. Marketing people at the automakers are getting in on the millions of viewers, with Toyota seemingly the main sponsor. But back in 1984, Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympics, and the automotive excitement is still vaguely palpable today. I regularly see 1984 commemorative license plates running around on older cars here, but can't recall ever seeing a special edition '84 Buick... until now. Find this 1984 Buick Century Olympic Edition for sale in Wildomar, CA for $6,000 via craigslist.

JDM VIP RHD PDQ: 1988 Toyota Century

If you were a well compensated Japanese executive shopping for a properly boss ride in the late 1980s, you didn't have many domestic cars to pick from.  You could get something imported like a Rolls Royce or a Mercedes S-Class...but many Japanese businessmen preferred to keep it local, perhaps with good reason.  Find this 1988 Toyota Century offered for an undisclosed price in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from JB1025.

Black Beauty: 1991 Toyota Century VG45L

The Toyota Century survived mostly unchanged for a remarkable 30 year long lifespan (1967-1997) akin to other immortals like the original Daimler DS420, Boeing 747 (born in 1969!!), or Joan Rivers' face.  The bumpers, headlights and other small items evolved as regulations changed, but changes to the front mounted V8 and rear-drive platform were evolutionary at best, but it's probably best to get a one from later years to avoid rust and carburetors.  Find this 1991 Toyota Century offered for $9,900 near Ft Myers, FL via craigslist.

Pace Car Special: 1975 Buick Century Free Spirit

On May 25th, 1975, A.J. Foyt lined up his Coyote 75 racer behind actor James Garner who drove a Buick Century the pace car at the Indy 500.  When the checkered flag was waved, Foyt was beaten by Bobby Unser, but the Buick dealers around the country were the real winners because they got the Century Free Spirit pace car replica to offload on a hungry public.  Find this 1975 Buick Century Free Spirit offered for $3,500 in Vermont.  Tip from Jdah.

10k: Kangaroo Style: 1988 Toyota Century VG40

The 1st generation Toyota Century first appeared in 1967 as the successor to the Crown Eight, a big JDM style sedan seeped in Yakuza style.  The fender mounted side view mirrors never made it to the shores of the USA, but you can find them outside Japan in English speaking places from time to time.  Find this 1988 Toyota Century VG40 offered for $9500 AUD ($8913 USD at time of printing) in Alexandria, NSW Australia via tradeuniquecars.com.au

15k: Doin' the Ton: 1957 Buick Century Riviera

UPDATE 4/6/14: As we mentioned in our original post in January, there's no telling what offer might drive this car home.  However, we can now say with certainty that sometimes its good to sit tight and wait for the seller to make the first move.  This car has been relisted on Ebay with a $3,000 lower price of $16,000; sending a strong 'offer' signal to anyone who's interested in a great example of 50's chrome.

Whenever old Buicks are being discussed at car shows or cruise nights, the casual Buick fans tend to swoon over the Special.  After all, that Special name implies that it’s the one to own, but to anyone planning to get the most out of one, the hottest Buick for the buck is definitely the Century. Find this slightly modernized 1957 Buick Century Riviera 4 door hardtop for sale in Groveland, CA for $19,000 via Ebay Classifieds.(This listing will end about the time this is posted, but there’s no telling what offer might drive it home after the listing closes).
