Best of the Breed: 1987 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo

Man, when was the last time you saw a Chevrolet Sprint Turbo on the road...okay...actually, have you ever seen a Sprint Turbo on the road?  What is this thing?  Quick recap; Suzuki built a supermini called the Cultus from 1983 through 2003, and GM decided they wanted in on the action...which meant slapping random badges onto the back and shoving them into every dealer in town, you could get a Suzuki Swift, a Geo Metro, Chevrolet Sprint, a Holden Barina, a Pontiac Firefly..do I need to go on...because I could.  Anyway, this next example is the peak of performance for the Cultus..Find this 1987 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo offered for $2900 in Vermilion,  OH via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Look At Me And My MPG! 1991 Chevy Sprint Convertible + Turbo

In high school, the Geo Metro was voted least likely car to be modified.  Today's Canadian spec Chevy Sprint convertible wears a 1990's shade of teal that has long since disappeared from automakers color charts.  The graphics on the rear quarter panel and door are reminiscent of the "Jazz" design on the Dixie cup from the same period.  These 55 hp three cylinders were known more for economy than any sort of speed especially when fitted with the three speed automatic.  Fed up with the glacial acceleration, today's seller took things into their own hands by adding a turbo set up using Home Depot and junkyard parts.  Find this 1991 Chevy Sprint Convertible for sale in Colebrook, CT for $2,500 via craigslist.

Kasutaumu Tabo: 1991 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo

by Adam -- Ok all of you who have driven a three cylinder car manufactured prior to 1991 raise your hand. Anyone? Now the engine seems to be making a comeback for fuel economy reasons, but historically three cylinder cars are not the norm. Sure, there are some very cool and interesting cars with three cylinders, but for the life of me all the examples I can think of are two strokes. DKW, NSU, and Auto Union along with the Saab Sonett and 93/96 all are excellent examples of cars that totally rocked the three pot and some in race trim. If Erik Carlsson won the Monte Carlo rally in one, isn’t an engine with three cylinders good enough for you? To stand out from the crowd, run half a six cylinder with a turbo as an added bonus. Dressed in a blue paint job and appearing to have all parts in place with additional modifications you could have some fun and still get 40mpg. Find this 1991 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo on Craigslist for $4,900.00 in Vancouver (Maple Ridge), British Columbia.

15k: No Post: 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint

If you remember the Coffee Brake two weeks ago, I asked if it was possible to build a sweet replica trans-am racer Falcon for less than the $40k reserve (or whatever the car sold for off eBay in a behind the scenes deal). The general consensus from the comments was that the car could easily cost what it sold for in the end, but I still think you can build an awesome Falcon restomod for cheap, but you've got to start with the right skeleton.  Like this 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint offered here on eBay currently bidding for $12,300 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go.

15k: Black Beauty: 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint

Sometimes I feel like I'm repeating myself, but I really can't say enough nice things about the Ford Falcon.  The Falcon shares its major components and chassis with the Mustang, which means that the aftermarket is plentiful and cheap, but the Falcon might actually be cooler than a Mustang coupe.  Find this 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint currently bidding for $16,100 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go on eBay, located in Pelion, SC.

20k: Pile O Parts: 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 1300

I will admit that I am a sucker for classic Alfa Romeo coupes.  Step-nose GTVs sing a particularly sweet siren song, but the early Giulietta Sprint is the only Alfa that I could kill to own (for reference, I would maim someone for a GTV, and for a 164 I would verbally abuse a complete stranger.)  To feature this Giulietta sprint will require breaking one of DT's own rules, which is "don't buy someone elses pile of parts"...but...it is about as cheap a Giulietta you'll ever see.  Find this 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 1300 currently bidding for $19,100 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go on ebay, located in Thousand Oaks, CA.

15k: Mom's Apple Pie: 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint RestoMod

People use the expression "a slice of Americana" to describe something that is uniquely American in character, like a warm apple pie freshly baked by Mom.  What makes a good apple pie?  A crispy and rich crust filled with tart apples and gelatinous filling, but it isn't something easily replicated in a factory or at a store and the best are still home made.  A restomod classic is similar to the apple pie in that the best take years to get correct and the end product can be extremely rewarding.  Find this 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint restomod for sale in Winchendon, MA currently bidding on ebay for $15,887 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.
