I was all set to go for the easy laugh and write some snarky commentary about the poor, misunderstood Pacer, but then I read the text of the ad and it got me to thinking and almost brought a tear to my eye. The AMC "flying fishbowl" Pacer was produced at the height of the disco era (1975-1980) and slotted between the Gremlin and the Matador in AMC's lineup. It was an oddly shaped car when released, the passenger compartment was shoved forward, the wheels were located at the ends of the car with minimal overhang, and let's not forget about the huge rear glass sections. The 1975-1980 AMC Pacer was a fishbowl shaped subcompact car built by the American Motors Corp in Kenosha, WI (also in Mexico City under license via Vehículos Automotores Mexicanos S.A.). It was slowly fading into obscurity when two rockers named Wayne and Garth painted it with the aura of cool in the 1992 SNL skit-crossover-feature movie Wayne's World, a now nice ones are worth more than a box of Red Vine's Super Rope. I've always enjoyed watching episodes of the show Wheeler Dealers, and have thought that buying one of their cars would be a great experience. Mike and Edd always seem to do a decent job fixing issues, and their profit is extremely slim, especially once you factor in the hundreds of hours of Edd's time.
