Tunnel-vision: 1968 Carlson Challenger

One of the cool things about the 60's (at least the consumer advertising version of the 60's) was the optimism.  The space age was truly underway and everything was new, modern and came in sparkling candy metal flake colors.  Even boats.  Find this 1968 Carlson Challenger Tunnel Hull for sale in Shelton, WA for $795 via craigslist.

Arrr-Class Fleet Sale: 1990s/2000s Pirate Art Cars

The guys at RM Sotheby's Auctions think they have the best lineup of classic cars for sale -- and the collection of Jim Click's Ford racing cars offered in Monterey on 19-20 August 2016 does look nothing short of extraordinary...but I'm gonna have to say that they don't have nearly enough home built rigging, custom sails, or swashbuckling potential...so I'll save my money and pick up this next set of custom things.  Find this collection of 1990s/2000s era cars turned into pirate ships offered for $2-$5k each or in a package deal located in Hollywood, CA (where else?) via craigslist.

Ol' Blue Eyes: 1982 Chrysler Imperial Frank Sinatra Signature Edition

The 1981 revival of the Imperial name came from Chrysler's CEO and Dark Lord Lee Iacocca, who launched the J-body based car as a personal luxury coupe.  Rumor has it that Iacocca was friends with Frank Sinatra, and it didn't take more than a few fistfuls of cash to have Ol' Blue Eyes shill for the Pentastar brand.  The best thing to come out of this oddball relationship was the Imperial Frank Sinatra Edition, which was only offered in Glacier Blue Crystal color (Frank's eye color) and some 271 examples left the factory with a lowercase fs on the back.  Find this 1982 Chrysler Imperial Frank Sinatra Edition offered for $3,750 in Kenvil, New Jersey via craigslist. With Pod and Boat: 1963 Ford Country Sedan Wagon

The Radio Flyer Forester from the other day was questioned for its stance and aerodynamic efficiency, but personally I found the entire setup very cool from a novelty perspective.  Suppose for a minute that the builder was into boats instead of kid's wagons and classic muscle instead of turbo Scoobs...would he have built this 1963 Ford Ford Country Sedan Wagon with pod and boat offered for $15,000 in Seattle, WA via craigslist?  Tip from FuelTruck.

5k: Pirate Ship: 1965 Mercury Marauder Park Lane

The Marauder name was first used on an engine option package for Mercury Montclair and Colony Park models in the late '50s.  The Marauder later became an option package for the full sized Monterey, Montclair, and Park Lane and it was the car (in fastback form) that Mercury used for NASCAR racing.  The street version was equipped with big block engines, bucket seats and a center console.  Find this 1965 Mercury Marauder Park Lane offered here on craigslist for $4,900 via craigslist located in Dublin, CA. 5k: James Bondo: The Boat Vette

 In the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, the star of the movie isn't a debinaire Roger Moore, but a 1977 Lotus Esprit that transforms into a submarine.  The movie used an actual Esprit for some of the underwater scenes and that car was subsequently lost to the public eye and only reappear when someone purchased an abandoned storage unit in 1989.  The car eventually sold for almost a million dollars to none other than Tesla Inc's Elon Musk who plans on using it for world domination.  However, imagine an alternative universe in which agent 007 is from Alabama and introduces himself as Bondo, James Bondo....this C3 Corvette Boat offered for $2,700 in Nora Springs, IA would be his ride.   Tip from Zach.
