Daily Driver: 1986 Volvo 760 Turbo

The Volvo 700 series was the last total redesign iteration of Volvo's boxy sedan platform that started with the 140 series way back in 1966.  The 740s were even powered by the B-series redblock inline-4s (which was an overhead cam replacement for the older B18/B20) and 760s were V6 or diesel inline-6 powered...or 4-banger turbo powered like this next one.  Find this 1986 Volvo 760 Turbo offered for $2500 in Sunnyvale, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

V12, Bangle Butt: 2004 BMW 760Li

This next car comes as a tip from Jeff who writes:  Ya gotta love depreciation... especially when it comes to used BMW / M-B cars. I know, I know... the stories behind the electronics with this engine might actually make late 70's/early 80's model Jaguar owners wince, but I'm a sucker for low mileage, European V-12 rides.... not that I'd be fool enough to own one in my current tax bracket though.  Only a 2-owner car, but the seller (the second owner) has only owned it for four months....... (insert pic of your wallet floating in water with the 'Jaws' theme song playing here). Find this 2004 BMW 760 Li offered for $10,000 in Brenham, TX via craigslist.

Mustang 5.0 Swap: 1985 Volvo 760 DL

The Volvo 700 series was the last total redesign iteration of Volvo's boxy sedan platform that started with the 140 series way back in 1966.  The 740s were even powered by the B-series redblock inline-4s (which was an overhead cam replacement for the older B18/B20) and 760s were V6 or diesel inline-6 powered, but today's 760 has long ago ditched its original engine for something more comfortable. Find this 1985 Volvo 760 DL V8 offered for $3,500 in Gilford, NH via craigslist.

10k: LT1 6-Speed Swap: 1983 Volvo 760 Sleeper

The Volvo 700 series was an executive class sedan/wagon built as a replacement for the aging 200 series, but it was actually outlasted by its younger brother.  The 700 was eventually morphed into the 900 series which was the end of the line for Volvo's rear-drive family cars. What this means today is the 760/740 is a great candidate for all kinds of V8 swaps and today's blue sedan is no exception.  Find this 1983 Volvo 760 with V8 Swap here on eBay offered for $8,900 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Cary, NC with 6 days to go.

3k: Waste Not: 1985 Volvo 760, D24T swap

On paper, a rear-wheel drive diesel Volvo wagon with a 5-speed sounds like an ideal formula for a daily hauler. But "even communism works on paper," as any smug Huffington Post reader will tell you. The problem wasn't necessarily the slower-than-walking D24 diesel engine or its 75-horsepower output, but the 3,200-lb weight they were saddled with. Both problems have been fixed in this lightened, stiffened, turbocharged wagon that redefines what a daily driver vehicle should offer. Find this 1985 Volvo 760 wagon with turbo-diesel swap in San Antonio, TX for $2,950 via craigslist.

5k: V8lvo Craigslist Trifecta: BERTONE CAPT'N CAPSLOCK vs Too Much To List vs No Engine/Trans

Surfing craigslist is often like negotiating a minefield totally naked and blindfolded.  Lunacy, incompetence, ignorance and insanity eagerly await each click of the mouse like the four horsemen of the apocalypse combing the manes on their ethereal steeds.  The four horsemen of craigslist made a particularly stunning appearance this week with a trifecta of V8 powered Volvos for sale across the country.  Pick your favorite as we compare a Bertone Coupe sold by CAPT'N CAPSLOCK with a 240 Wagon sold by Too Much Too List and finally a 760 Hot Rod with No Engine/No Trans.
