DT Birthday Celebration: Three Years Strong

Three years doesn't sound like a lot of time.  Maybe if you look at it as 1095 days, 26,280 hours, 1,576,800 minutes, or 94,608,000 seconds, it starts to sound like more.  But if you asked me how much time has passed since CFlo and I started blogging about used cars on the interweb...I would say it seems like just a few days. In those few days we (I'm including a big group of additional contributors here) have published 4,000 features, received 6,000 tips, read 25,000 comments, and gotten 6,000,000 pageviews.



Job done, eh?  Nope.  Not by a long shot.  In fact, today we are going to take a break from the daily onslaught of well priced custom El Caminos (and custom AMC Batmobiles) and introduce a few new things that will help grow the site for the future.

A quick rundown of what's on deck today.

7AM PST:  DT Radio Show Podcast.  Yeah, that's right ya hipster, you don't have to put your monocle on to read the website anymore.  You can just listen to it on your iPhone, android, PC, or phonograph.  Link and more later.

9AM PST:  Announcement on a fundraising campaign we are launching to try to grow the site. The hat gets passed around, cash flows like crude under a vintage Volkswagen, and everybody wins!! YAY!

10AM PST:  We are making some changes on our social media front, and you will be happy to know that our twitter bot is being replaced by a real live human bot!

12Noon PST:  DT needs you; a call for new contributors.

2PM PST: Fun stuff, a list of DT rides, current, past, and future.

      I am a bit bummed out that the podcast won't be made available in the favored 8-track format. Babs is lonely. Don't worry, I'll bring her flowers to cheer her up.

    ~ Bravo - keep up the fine work. It's been a great 3 years. Daily Turismo has become an integral fixture of my morning ritual.

      ~ Never so lucky. I submitted the suggestion it in a moment of madness. Thought about crowd-funding the purchase but was laughed out of the garage.

    I remember my first visit to the site - when I was shopping 964 911's a friend linked here to a feature from a year ago or so and I was from that point forward hooked. The site keeps getting better and better, and it does so by staying exactly the same... great job fellas.

      RyanM -- Did your friend ever get a 964? I'd toyed with the idea of a 964 (back when RS America's were affordable...ha!!) but never pulled the trigger. Now, the basic 964 seems like a bargain compared to 901 and 993.

    Holy crap... I can't believe I missed the celebration.... I been sorta busy lately but looked in this morning and had to post... happy Birthday DT. My first stop everymorning (still) 3ven though I haven't posted anything lately. Hopefully this place sticks around for years to come.

    I feel I am one of the youngest fans, youre all old farts and try harder to leave a mark on the Internet. But anywho, great job and keep it up. I love this blog, let's try to pull some diversified reader-ship? Post Japanese Z's and Japanese late 80's early 90's cars. Maybe that'll do it.
