Lotta Beef For The Coin: 2003 Jaguar XJR

This next car comes from tipper Art C who artfully sums it up when he writes: Wow. Too cheap to be true? Or just cheap enough to take a flyer on it?? Oil around breather is worrisome,  but other than that? Wow. Thats a lotta beef for $1500 realistically.  Yeah, that is lot of supercharged big cat for the cash. Find this 2003 Jaguar XJR offered for $1950 in Bayside Queens, NY via craigslist.

More Cars More Mess: 1999 and 2000 Jaguar XJR

DT readers who live in parts of the country that do not use road salt in the winter will breathe a sigh of relief after reading this piece.  Parts cars are a great resource for keeping other cars on the road if you actually get around to using them that way.  Today's pair of Jags is what happens when you double down on a problem and then do not get around to actually fixing anything.  Two needy supercharged XJR's for cheap is a tough sell logistically for most any buyer- two trips for pick up, two parking spaces, double the issues to address, etc.  Find these 1999 and 2000 Jaguar XJR's for sale in Rowley, MA for $2,000 via craigslist.

Mid Week Match-Up: A Grand Tourer

Sorry Matt LeBlanc, but the current BBC Top Gear show is just unwatchable and the Grand Tour (starring those three nincompoops from the old Top Gear) is seriously good telly.  For this week's Mid Week Match-Up, I'd like to challenge our readers to find a car for Jeremy Clarkson, James May, or Richard Hammond.

Finger On The Button: 2000 Jaguar XJR SVO Custom

When I saw this next car described as a Jaguar XJR SVO, I was certain that I'd found the holy grail of hillbilly engineering -- where the timeless style of a Shhhag-u-are meets the performance potential of a boosted 8-valve Pinto engine...but instead all I found was some Jag that was custom ordered with goatskin interior by Henry Ford's granddaughter or some such nonsense.   Find this 2000 Jaguar XJR SVO Custom here on eBay bidding for $13,700 in Bethesda, MD with 2 days to go. Tip from MB.

Clutch Player: 1996 Jaguar XJR 5 Speed

Before Jaguar sold out and went mainstream, they offered a surprising amount of cool stuff for car that was sold new to a bunch of stuffy rich folks.  Available power in the X300 generation (1994-1997) was either a big revv-happy inline-6, or a thundering V12 -- and if you wanted the car to handle better than the Queen Mary, you got the inline-6.  Find this 1996 Jaguar XJR 5 Speed offered for $14,999 in Chicago, IL via Hemmings. 2k: Cheap Cat: 2000 Jaguar XJR

The last time we featured an XJR (a 1995 5-spd swapped example), I goofed and implied the car came with the supercharged V8 instead of the inline-6 of the earlier cars.  This next feature is a V8 XJR and it might not have a 5-speed swap, but it is offered for pennies on the original dollar.  Find this  2000 Jaguar XJR offered for $2,500 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

5k: 5-Speed Conversion: 1995 Jaguar XJR

With the 1994 release of the Jaguar XJR (X306) performance sedan, the world was introduced to a supercharged V8 version of Jaguar's bread and butter luxury sedan.  The only problem with the XJR since its introduction has been the lack of manual transmission option, a problem that was solved in this next feature.  Find this 1995 Jaguar XJR with 5-speed swap offered for $7,500 in Raleigh, NC via craigslist.  Tip from Tinyfrogs.

5k: Status Cymbal: 2003 Jaguar XJR

If you are tightwad prudent buyer in the market for a post 2000 model year Euro performance sedan to lend credence to your claims to be a baller, you would probably select something from AMG, Audi S-line, or BMW's M division -- but you'd be wrong. What you really need is something that is brash, loud and elegant, but announces your arrival like the banging of two bronze cymbals, like this 2003 Jaguar XJR offered for $6,400 in Lemon Grove, CA via craigslist.

2k: XJRmageddon: 1998 Jaguar XJR (X308)

The Jaguar XJR first launched in the X300 platform marked the beginning of the  end for Jaguar's V12 power plants.  The XJ12 was still available, but a sport/performance version called the XJR was released with a supercharged V8 that rendered the piston rich twin-inline-6 obsolete.  The XJR continued into the next XJ generation (X308) as a supercharged V8 but the classic Jaguar V12 was left for the fossil record.  Find this 1998 Jaguar XJR for sale in Battle Ground, WA for $2,000 via craigslist.
