Bracq Interior: 1988 Peugeot 505 STX

Welcome back to another feature in our Bracq Friday spectacular -- a celebration of the best cars from Frenchman Paul Bracq.  This next car doesn't have an exterior that was penned by our favorite French car designer, but he was head of interior design for Peugeot when this car was released and contributed to that sweet Pug driver's view.  Find this 1988 Peugeot 505 STX here on eBay offered for $6200 CAD ($4663 USD) located in Thornhill, Canada.

Pug Life: 1981 Peugeot 505 Turbo Diesel

How...why...wait!  This next car is one of those head-scratching oddballs that begs the questions -- how did it survive in this condition; why would it be in this nice shape compared to its siblings and cousins; wait, I want it but it might take 10 years to drive home! Find this 1981 Peugeot 505 Turbo Diesel offered for $12,000 outside of Boston, MA. Tip from Rock On!

Friggin' SW8: 1992 Peugeot 505 SW8 Wagon

Peugeots have always been for the eccentrics. My next door neighbor growing up had one. He also had a telephone booth sitting in his overgrown front yard and yelled at people for burning leaves, citing emissions concerns. So why not drive a mobile excuse for your strange behavior? Let others say "Oh, he drives a Peugeot, that's why he does that" with this 1992 Peugeot 505 SW8 for sale in Portland, OR for $1,500 via craigslist.

1k: Rough but Tough: 1986 Peugeot 505 Turbo

The Peugeot 505 may not be a regular visitor on the streets of the US of A, but it was sold in staggering quantities around the world.  You can find them used as taxi cabs in Morocco and carnival parade cars in Buenos Aires, and owners will swear by their basic ruggedness.  Between 1979 and 1995, over one million 505s were built in factories in France, Argentina, China, Indonesia and Taiwan, but only a few made it to the US, and fewer remain on the road today.  Find this 1986 Peugeot 505 Turbo for $1,500 in Danbury, CT via craigslist.  Tip from Cory.

5k: Across the River Styx: 1987 Peugeot 505 STX

The river Styx was a mythological river of the Greek tradition that was the boundary between Earth and the Underworld.  It was a magical place where gods swore oaths to each other and a dip in it would bestow invulnerability (Achilles was dipped in the river sticks as a boy, dipped in the river by his heel, hence his weak point of the Achilles heel).  This next feature is a little bit like the river Styx, because one wrong step could lead you stranded in the underworld.  Find this 1987 Peugeot 505 STX offered for $4,400 in Los Gatos, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Clark.

5k: French Poodle: 1985 Peugeot 505S Wagon

French automaker Peugeot built over 1.3 million of its 505 sedans for worldwide consumption between 1979 and 1999, a ridiculous number all things considered.  The 505 was successful in the third world where its comfortable ride over rough roads and simple front engine / rear drive layout made the constant repairs easy for non-French reading mechanics.  The North American consumer was slightly less friendly to the 505 as expectations for day to day reliability were much higher, and so few clean examples of the 505 remain on the road today.  Find this 1985 Peugeot 505S Wagon offered for $5,000 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada via craigslist.

5k: Sink Or Cinq: 1985 Peugeot 505 S

French automaker Peugeot built over 1.3 million of its 505 sedans for worldwide consumption between 1979 and 1999, a staggering number all things considered.  The 505 was rather successful in the third world where its comfortable ride over rough roads and simple front engine / rear drive layout made the constant repairs easy for non-French reading mechanics.  Very few clean examples of the 505 remain on the road today, but even the nicest examples can be picked up for chump change.  Find this 1985 Peugeot 505 S for sale in Staten Island, NY for $4,200 via roverclassic.com.   Thanks to tip from IgnatiusReilly.

2k Flash: Back To Basics: 1986 Peugeot 505, 5spd, Survivor

The Peugeot 505 was the final rear-wheel-drive car from French automaker Peugeot and was produced in stunning quantities worldwide, even though you don't see many here in the United States.  Between 1979 and 1995, over one million 505s were built in factories in France, Argentina, China, Indonesia and Taiwan, but only a few made it to the US, and fewer remain on the road today.  Find this 1986 Peugeot 505 with 5spd trans for sale in the SF Bay Area, CA for $2,500 via craigslist.  Another great find from DT regular Kaibeezy T!
