Our discussion the other day about craigslist, Hemmings, and BaT brought out some interesting observations on the "collector" car market and it seemed a consensus here on DT people want cheap but interesting cars that can be driven...not stupidly overpriced show queens that are only valueable if the odometer reading is kept low. (Did you all see that '97 Toyota Supra Turbo with 69k miles that sold for $176,000 at Barrett-Jackson...why??!?! It's not even stock!! Uggg...people are stupid. You could have a C3 Corvette, a different MkIV Supra, and a house in Cincinnati for that much!!!). Anyway, if you want a sub $5k car that'll keep you entertained for a few months, I think this next car is a good candidate. Find this 1992 Honda Accord EX offered for $3200 in Fairfield, OH via craigslist. Tip from Darren.

I am listing a mint 1992 Accord Ex for my parents. This vehicle has never seen snow and rarely sees rain. Owned since 1996. All maintenance has been done. Oil changed at 3K miles or every 3 months religiously. My dad is a fanatic about his cars. They are selling it because mom recently had hip surgery and the car sits too low for her. The only problem with the car is a rear passenger window that won't go down. This car looks brand new and is easily the best example of a 2nd gen Accord available. We only want to see this go to a serious Honda enthusiast. If you're buying this as cheap car for your newly licensed teenager sorry but we won't sell to you.

DeleteThink what you what you want but A 1992 accord is 27 years behind modern safety standards. New drivers are 5 times more likely to be involved in a serious accident. If you want to put your child's life danger to save a few $k that is your business.

ReplyDeleteHowever this model Accord is the best car I ever owned. Mine was a proper stick and all it ever needed was gas and oil. They are built so well, maybe best generation?

DeleteGone already. That was a pretty lame way to advertise. I would have loved to have been in a position to just lie to them, sign the title and then tell them that I was giving it to my kid. A perfect car for a kid, by the way.
