Not a Ferrari Kit: 1975 Fiberfab Aztec 7 w/ Ford V6

I always find it interesting when a seller offers a car for sale on craigslist, but apparently has little idea of what kind of car he/she is actually selling.  The seller lists this as a "Ferrari" kit car, but there was no Ferrari that looked like this thing back in the day -- and the car is a Fiberfab Aztec 7, which was modeled to resemble Marchello Gandini's 1968 Paris Auto Show concept known as the Alfa Romeo Carabo...again...not a Ferrari.  It isn't a bad looking example of a Fiberfab kit and is probably worth the low asking price. Ford V6 Power: 1972 Volkswagen Camper

The Rootes Group started building a Sunbeam Alpine badged car in the mid 50s known as the "Mark I & III," but the Alpine you see here today is from the "Series"  production that was sold from 1959 to 1968.  The styling likeness to the original Ford Thunderbird is not a coincidence - one of the designers was a former Ford man, and later Carrol Shelby worked with Rootes to put a Ford V8 into the front of the Alpine to turn it into the Tiger.  It is only natural when you are swapping out the stock engine to find something from the Ford catalog, like this 1962 Sunbeam Alpine with Ford V6 offered here on eBay, currently bidding for $12,600 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.

The Triumph Spitfire was a small roadster built in the United Kingdom to compete with the MG Midget, Austin Healey Sprite and to some extent the Fiat 850 Spider.  The Spitfire is one of the better looking and handling of the small British sports cars but it held back by a gutless 1.1 4-cyl.  This isn't a problem for the well equipped gearhead and many engines have been swapped into Spitfire bodies over the years.  Find this 1972 Triumph Spitfire with Ford V6 offered for $3,500 in Tucson, AZ via craigslist.
