Edelweiss: 1982 BMW 320iS E21

The E21 generation BMW 3-series is sort of the forgotten little brother of the big cheese E30.  Perhaps it is because the E21 never had a hyper-popular fanboy-drool-inducing M version, or Turbo graphic covered version like the 2002...but I dig the overbite fenders and sharp looking Hofmeister kink, and love the sport package front apron.  Find this 1982 BMW 320iS E21 offered for $8000 in Redondo Beach, CA via craigslist.

DTO: 4-Door E30 M3: 1988 BMW 320is Italian Export

If you love the screaming S14 four banger in the E30 M3 but shy away from its boy racer box flares and 2-door only configuration, then perhaps a trip to Italy is in order.  In order to avoid VAT and higher vehicle taxes for engines exceeding 2.0 liters, BMW created a de-stroked version of the S14 for Italy and Portugal in 2 and 4 door versions that was called the 320is.  It isn't a car you'd look twice at in person, but for those in the know it could be a bimmer-licious experience for about the price of a new 135i.  Find this 1988 BMW 320is Italian Export offered for $35,000, located in West Marin, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy. The DTO (Daily Turismo Omologato) is a rare or interesting example of a DT-friendly classic or performance vehicle, but priced somewhere above the self imposed DT cap of $20k.

5k: Low Mile Survivor: 1983 BMW 320is

The BMW 3-series arrived on the automotive landscape in 1976 as a replacement for the aging new class chassis (BMW 1600/2000/2002).  The 3-series was an immediate hit and for a long time was the de facto yuppie car, but is now becoming a classic in its own right.  Find this 1983 BMW 320is with only 34k miles on the odometer for sale in Sanibel, FL currently bidding for $5,000 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go.

10k: 1980 BMW 320is E21 w/M20 I-6 swap; HellaFlushed

The 1975 E21 was the first of a long line of sporty luxury cars from BMW wearing the 3-series badge.  It replaced the aging 2002 and introduced a much more modern chassis with rack & pinion steering and sold extremely well when new.  Today, a well preserved E21 can be a fantastic bargain and offers the experience of a reliable classic that can be driven every day.  This 1980 BMW 320 E21 with M20 swap and hella-flush stance is for sale in Woodland Hills, CA, currently bidding on ebay for $10,000 with 4 days to go.

5k: 1981 BMW 320is 5spd E21

The E21 generation BMW 3-series was built in Munich and more than 1 million sold around the globe from 1975 to 1983.  It was the yuppie icon in the USA, a perfect way to show the world that you were young, sporty and well-off.  Most of them have since fallen apart due to abuse and neglect, but the nice ones are now starting to be collectable.  This 1981 BMW 320is 5psd is black on black and looks really nice for the $5800 asking price in Pacifica, CA via craigslist. (Thanks to tip from DT regular Kaibeezy T)
