Have you ever reached the end of your rope with a car? Done, over it, no mas, or get out of here might be some common refrains said when you get to the breaking point. Today's Saab has a unknown issue that has rendered it immobile and offered at a dirt cheap price. Find this 2005 Saab 9-3 Aero for sale in Bethel, CT for $650 via craigslist. 
The car has a few modifications listed: 20% tinted windows, intake, exhaust, and lowering springs. Any turbo Saab can be made into a torque steering tire burner rather cheaply with a aftermarket tune of the Trionic engine management system.
What is the likelihood the car suffers from something simple like a dead direct ignition cassette? Seized engine? Dead starter? Say the car can be bought for $500 and the price of a tow, is it worth the risk? Pro tip: if a seller ever mentions they could part the car out for more money than they are asking, in most cases they wouldn't know where to start.

Um, yeah.... I also don't think you are going to be capable of parting out a modern Saab if you cannot figure out how to turn your phone sideways to be able to get the whole car into the shot. </end-snark-mode . Too bad there is not a little more detail on the no-start (like, "cranks but will not fire", or "does not crank"). Anyway, probably a great deal for someone who knows these cars. Any brave DT-ers in CT?

ReplyDeleteI can forgive it being a slush box for a 3 digit asking price. Would be fun to tinker with and see if you could get it running again. Worst case, you could easily get your money back in parts/scrap.
