Welcome back to the Mid Week Match-Up, a weekly exercise in matchmaking for car folks. This week we are going to find the best sub $2000 hatchback...because it just seems like the right thing to do.My entry is this 1992 Nissan NX1600 hatchback offered for $1400 in Glendale, CA. The NX1600 was a small hatchy version of the Sentra, and while it might not have the zoom-zoom power of the SR20DE powered NX2000, at least it has a manual transmission and a cheap asking price.
What can you find for sub $2k with a hatch? Comments below.

They want $2,100 but I bet you could do your best Mike Brewer and put your size 10's on and get it just that little bit more cheaply to come in under the limit.
Pretty nice 1999 Saab 9-3 with 113k mileage and a 5 speed

Mazda MX3. I think this was the world's smallest V6 at the time. In 1999 I took my NJ drivers' license test in one of these, with a 5-speed.

DeleteAnybody want an '86 Celica GT? Can do for somewhat less than $2000, though I can pretty much strip everything I want out of it and give it to the state for $1000.
