Welcome back to DT's annual end of summer tradition of featuring the craziest cars for
sale on the web, a segment we like to call Loony Labor Day. To qualify as a Loony Labor day entry, the
cars will be insane, or the seller will be nuts...or maybe even the
buyers. For 2014, our first feature is this 1980 Triumph TR7 custom
currently bidding for $6,000 reserve-not-met with about a day to go on eBay, located in Sprague, WA.
This thing started life as a Triumph TR7, but it has been rebodied, not in lightweight fiberglass, but with anvil hammered steel, so the doorstop shaped car should have no problem holding open the door at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories that contains the Rotating Target Neutron Source-II. The world's heaviest door would need the world's heaviest doorstop to keep it ajar.
Just about everything is custom in this monster and instead of the typical list of parts/components/specs, this seller just says that everything is new or custom. At least we know it has a 4.3 liter Vortec V6 mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Hey this makes a TR7 look better. If done in a lighter material on a TR8 it might actually be desirable.
ReplyDeleteI have to give the builder kudos for full commitment, what a ton of work and money have gone into this build, build quality looks really good, even if the end result is not to everyone's taste

ReplyDeleteI like it. great quality build from what we can see. the styling is a WHOLE LOT better-er than a slew of $50K+ 'sports' cars currently offered. look like it would be fun. if I were shopping I would definitely give this a test-drive.
