Olds Swap: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT

Four cylinder Pontiac Fieros and Grumman USPS delivery vehicles were both saddled with the same push rod Iron Duke engine from General Motors.  This engine had no business being in a sports car and groaned like a constipated hippo when you hit the loud pedal.  Fiero's are ripe for engine swaps and many V8 conversions have been featured on these pages.  Today's example took the swap road less traveled with the sophisticated GM DOHC four cylinder engine called the Quad Four.  The engine was quite potent in W41 trim making 190 horsepower in the 1992-93 Old Achieva SCX and Old Cutlass Calais Quad 442.  Find this 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT for sale in Worcester, MA for $4,800 via craigslist.

Sharp Cutlass: 1991 Oldsmobile Quad 442

In the case of the Olds 442's after 1972, this historic numerical acronym usually stood for 4 empty Icehouse cans, 4 lottery tickets, and 2 mini-spares. The Quad442, however, started to inject some much-needed credibility back into the iconic moniker.  Find this 1991 Oldsmobile Quad442 for sale in place, CA for $2,800 via craigslist.  This car was offered for $3,800 in Las Vegas almost a year ago
