Before Toyota built the 4Runner, there was a small dealership in Wisconsin (Jack Safro in Brookfield) that took about 1500 of the basic Toyota HiLux trucks from 1981-1983 and sent them to Winnebego for a camper shell makeover -- the result was something called the Trekker that was so impressive to the Toyota brass that the concept was turned into the 4Runner.
