Italian Week: 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

I've loved the idea of owning an Alfa GTV for...I dunno...as long as I can remember driving or riding in cars. Fortunately, or unfortunately, they have been affordable over the years and I've not pulled the trigger, probably because I assumed they would always be affordable. Unfortunately, or fortunately, recent market activity has brought considerable price inflation to the price of most classic cars, particularly handsome Italian models, so if you want a GTV, you might need to settle for something with a gash or two on the side. Find this 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 offered for $15,000 in El Cerrito, CA via craigslist. Tip from Erik202.

Sunday Classic: 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

It seems like it was only yesterday when a decent running/driving Alfa Romeo GTV was just a bit over $10k, but the inevitable march of Father Time means we are one step closer to the grave and one buck farther away from owning a GTV.  Find this 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 offered for $20,000 in San Francisco, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

5k: Cheapest Running Example: 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The Alfa Romeo GTV is on DT's short list of cool classics to own/drive for cheap.  A nice well sorted example will cost well into the teens and basket cases are often offered for $7k, so imagine the collective surprise when we found a running/driving GTV for less.  Find this 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 for sale in Grand Rapids, MI for $5,000 via craigslist.

5k: Grand Turismo Verycheapo: 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The Alfa Romeo GTV needs little introduction other than to remind people that it is an affordable and rare piece of Italian motor-driven art.  The quad-headlight GTV 2000 model (tipo 105.21) is by far the most recognizable and will get you front/center parking at any valet lot for less than the price of a new Honda Fit...or in this case a used Yugo.  Find this 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 for sale near Washington, DC for $5,000 via craigslist.

15k: Berlusconi's Birthday Bash: 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

We admitted our weakness for the classic GTV in our rambling love post about Giugiaro's masterpiece and, of course, the tips started flowing in with more deliciously tempting Italian steel.  We can't remember seeing this much Italian sex for a bit over $10k since Silvio Berlusconi's last birthday bash, and a run over the white lines in this baby could also land you in prison...but that is another story.  Find this 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV for sale in Bozeman, MT. Big thanks to tip from Oldsmobuick.

15k: Rosebud: 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV

The Alfa Romeo GTV is one of those cars that is affordable and awesome enough to be on any vintage gear-head's bucket list.  I admit to be hook-line-and-sinker in love with the classic Giorgetto Giugiaro designed body and infatuated with the idea of an Italian sports coupe with an alloy engine screaming up to a 7000 rpm redline.  Understandably, each time a reasonably priced GTV passes under my nose, I have that 'rosebud' moment and mutter to myself..."one of these days I will have you."  Find this 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce for sale in San Mateo, CA for $17,000 via craiglist. 15k Flash: 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The Alfa Romeo 105 series coupes are one of a few remaining classic Italian machines available for DT money (less than $15k).  The 1971-76 GTV with its iconic twin headlights is the result of a masterful piece of art from Giorgetto Giugiaro of the Bertone design house.  This 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 is for sale in Ontario, Canada, currently bidding on ebay for $12,500.
