2-For-1: 1978 SAAB 99 Turbo

The Saab 99 was released in 1968, some 20 years after the release of Saab's first production automobile, the 92.  Oddly enough, one of the original contributors to the design of the 92 was a Swedish born designer named Sixten Sason, who lead the design of the Saab 99 but did not live to see its release.  A decade later the nuts at Saab decided to release a turbocharged version and the rest is history.  Find this 1978 SAAB 99 Turbo offered for $1200 (with a spare parts car) near Tacoma, WA via craigslist. Tip from Zach.

DT Flash: 2For1: 1978 SAAB 99 Turbo + Parts Car

There is something about a car that is sold with a parts car...something hidden between the lines that says "Don't expect to be able to buy brake pads at AutoKragBoys" and "Need an empty barn."  Parts availability for a 1978 SAAB shouldn't be that bad...but if you buy this package deal you will need somewhere away from your neighbors view to store the rotting parts car.  Find this 1978 SAAB 99 Turbo with spare parts car in Sausalito, CA bidding on ebay for $886 with 7 days to go.  Thanks to tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: 1978 Saab 99 Turbo

In 1978 SAAB introduced a remarkable automobile, the 99 Turbo - it wasn't the first turbocharged automobile to be introduced to the general public, the 1962 Olds Jetfire Turbo Rocket has that honor, but it was the first mass produced turbocharged automobile produced in any substantial volumes and the Jetfire used a complicated anti-detonation methyl alcohol injection system.  The 99 Turbo on the other hand looked and drove like any other vehicle except for the hiss and delayed push of a small Garrett T04 turbocharger.  This 1978 SAAB 99 Turbo is offered for sale in Portland, OR for $5000 via craigslist and looks to be a decent stock daily driver.
