The B3 generation Audi 80 was sold from in 1986 through 1991 as a sedan, coupe and cabriolet. The coupe version dropped the 80 nomenclature in 1988 and became known simply as the Audi Coupé. This generation of Audi Coupe isn't quite as iconic as the original Ur-Quattro, but it offers better drive-ability and ergonomics for a better price...or at least so I've been told. Hello everyone,
Selling my 90 Coupe Quattro, as you may already know these things are becoming more and more rare!. Vehicle is in great running condition, recently had the oxgen sensors replaced, new timing and water pump, full tune up, with new injectors as well. Has a 5spd Manual transmission with a new clutch.
Odometer reads 127K miles however odometer stopped working about 3-4 months ago. Vehicle just passed smog
Body is in pretty good shape for its age, no major dents or fading paint. Interior is in good shape as well. Drivers window motor will need replacing.
Asking $5,700 again these cars are rare so please no low ball offers.

Sadly, they left this one normally aspirated. For what they were charging for these when new ($30k---almost $60k in 2019 dollars), they really should have left the factory with the 230hp S2 engine (which I think was also the 1991 200 TQ engine.
DeleteI just remember these growing roots on dealer lots, and understandably so---the yuppie era was winding down, and for the price of one of these you could almost have two Talon/Eclipse/Laser Turbo AWD's that would blow this car into the weeds.

DeleteThey had to stop because of complaints from neighbors and permitting issues with the city of Long Beach. It was a pretty tiny yard to do donuts in though. If you get bored, watch the "V8 BMW E36 Camper" episode - that's me and 2 of my Lemons teammates!

DeleteWhat a good looking car, both outside and inside. Clean, straight-forward, Germanic design. I just don't know that I'd be up for paying the inevitable cost of Audi ownership. It's the supermodel girlfriend scenario. She's beautiful and exciting but it will cost you a small fortune to keep her happy and in your garage. Wait, what?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd always have an elevated fear of any type of front impact in a 5-cylinder Audi because of the far forward position of the motor. Talk about zero crumple zone. One minor parking lot bump and the grille goes into the motor. I'd want to install some sort of brush guard... which would then lead to adding a full rack of Hella lamps which would lead to going full rally. That's a dangerous rabbit hole.
I have never understood the obsession with the original Audi Quattro (I refuse to use the "Ur" word!). Although technically interesting, they were in no way attractive to my eye (the left one....). However I like the styling of the model on offer here. But then I read people's comments about reliability/fixability and I just move on. As Mega Vonza implies, life is too short to spend it with Super Models.
