A stock 80s Ford Fairmont 2-door won't get your blood pumping even in the sweet fastback-ish Futura trim (similar to a Mercury Zephyr Z-7...if that helps). Even the healthiest 5-liter V8 version only pushed 139 horsepower at a leisurely 3600 rpm...but that's nothing that a crate motor swap won't fix. Find this 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura 351W offered for $8,500 in Detroit, MI via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!From the seller:

This right after the ElCo-ized 240d compels me to mention that these always looked like somone had converted a Ranchero to a coupe.
ReplyDeleteSome guy at Ford: We just got a shipment of 60,000 Ranchero doors instead of 6,000! What will we do?
Some other guy at Ford: Hold my martini and watch this!
Getting closer to Men in Black! I like it. Bet it is quick
ReplyDeleteThat thing must just leap off the line if you can get it to hook up with those 4.10 gears.
ReplyDeleteThats a lot of fun for $8500. Only change I would make would be to switch the dog dish hubcaps to fake wire wheels. It looks like a cop car and you want it to look old man car. Up until the time the smoke starts pouring off the back tires...
