Very Haunted: 1982 Ford Meteor

Homicidal cars are nothing new; Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Fury intent on killing innocent people, and had a movie dedicated to her in 1983. The previous year, an inconsequentially beige Ford Meteor rolled off the production line in Homebush, Sydney. Of course, the Plymouth was dreamt up by one of the greatest horror writers of the past century, Stephen King, but this Meteor is a real, one owner car, terrorising its poor owner since a lightning strike. Find this haunted 1982 Ford Meteor for sale in Prahran, Vic for $1,000 AUD ($770 USD at the time of writing) via gumtree.

The haunting includes spot fires and a blood-filled windscreen washer fluid reservoir, neither of which were on the options list for this car. What was on the options list was the three-speed automatic, with a reverse gear that amplifies the car's haunted effects.


There are only these two photos provided, the owner appears to be too scared to get inside or open the bonnet, but what we can see looks pristine. Sure, a seemingly pristine '80s econobox is still an econobox, but it's definitely worth more than the almost arbitrary asking price. As a much-needed reality check, BBC's Top Gear simulated a lightning strike on a mid-00s Golf and it was fine.

    is that a Mazda 323 under the chunky head/tallights? - my kid has been watching OG 70's vintage Wonder Woman and she's all "How can Steve not tell (spoiler alert) Diana is really...?" - her whole disguise is just some chunky nerd glasses - you can even see the glass in her glasses is even fake because the reflections are flat, right? - ok, time for my meds - get us out from under, Wonder Woman

      Yeah, these were badge-engineered 323s, though the Laser (hatchback version of the Meteor) easily outsold the Mazda Down Under.
