High Five: 1984 Audi Coupe GT

The B2 generation Audi Coupe (or Coupé if you are into that kinda thing) was a cheaper version of the Audi Quattro Turbo and shared its aggressive styling but was available in the non-turbo GL, GT and Coupe Quattro versions.  The Coupe GT combined the basic style of the legendary Quattro with a budget drivetrain and was actually an adept car on a back road.  Find this 1984 Audi Coupe GT offered for $4,000 in Roanoke, VA via craigslist. Tip from Richard.

The 5-cylinder Audis from this era have a very rabid active fan base and future values should trend upwards if my crystal ball is correct.  When new, folks from the world of print media lauded the Coupe GT for its handling/style/luxury -- you can read this article from Car and/or Driver where it beat the Chevy Camaro Berlinetta, and Ford Mustang SVO in a comparison test.


The Coupe GT is powered by a 2.2 liter inline-5 cylinder Audi engine that puts 110 horsepower into the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.  The inline-5 is mounted so far forward in the engine bay that the radiator is mounted under that plastic shroud to the right of the engine.

    I have no comment on this car, but I am puzzled by the icon. I kinda get the coupe aspect, but that dinky little rear wheel has me at a loss. Anyone? Beuller?

    power house front wheel drive (big wheels), rear wheels are just there to tow like a trailer, hence dinky?
    weird thing on these, it is a trunk, small and cannot access thru as gas tank RIGHT BEHIND rear seat!!

    Be that as it may, the rich R8 is a mid motor supercar that will give you an astonishing driving knowledge because of its thundering V8 motor. used car dealerships
