We
find a random picture of a car and you get to guess what it is. Last
week's puzzle was easily solved by Fleetwood T Brougham who instantly identified the inside of a Ford EXP. Today's puzzle is on the obscure side, and was provided by DT reader Anthony. Just what am I anyway?

DeleteFunny, because what's easy for some is nearly impossible for others. Plus, it's just a matter of who is on when you post it. You'll never know until the deed is done, DT! This was a good one though, that car is rather obscure. Because he/she/it/they were surely typing at the same time I was, I share my street cred with espartan!
DeleteFor those of you DTers that think that Top Gear is a show unlike any other and aren't aware of Fifth Gear, check this out. The history of the shows are intertwined (look it up!) and as much as I liked Top, I always preferred Fifth. I'd like to take the opportunity to make a joke about pleading the Fifth, but I...won't.

As far as composition and host-chemistry (however contrived) are concerned, I prefer Top Gear over Fifth Gear. But if you were to put each presenter and their counterpart into the same car on the same track (not the TG test track) on the same day for a time-attack, I'm sure the Fifth Gear crew would wipe the floor with the TG crew.
DeleteTiff really is one hell of a driver. As a presenter, he isn't as entertaining as Clarkson, but he's in my opinion a more well rounded individual.
Completely agree, RyanM. The triple threat of Clarkson, May and Hammond is unbeatable in terms of their personality. Do you remember Rippon?
DeleteWhat I can't stand about TG these days is that it has basically nothing to do with cars, just stupid stunts. And that's why I loved FG, because it was all about the cars. Plus, Vicki...'nuff said.
It's scary to think about all the recent knockoff shows that failed miserably because of exactly what RyanM brought up - the chemistry (or lack thereof) between the hosts. I can't think of a better example of how bad it can get than TG USA. And yet, it's still on (unlike the others). Why?!? Doesn't seem right. My apologies to all of you out there that like it. I just hate it immensely. Unwatchable.

DeleteI thought TG USA got a lot better once they ditched the original TG format with the Stig and Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, etc. and went to strictly challenges.

I can't disagree with the comments here that it (the Mangusta) is a less than attractive car to some folks. But I like that they tried something different and there were plenty of neat details like the retracting top, somewhat similar to the one on the 2nd gen RX-7. I've seen 2 or 3 over the years in person and I rather liked them. They do come across as exciting and desirable.
