Welcome to another edition of DT's cure for the Monday morning blues -- What Am I?
We
find a random picture of a car and you get to guess what it is. Last week's Qvale Mangusta was way too easy, so this week we climb out of the deep end and run naked into the woods. What Am I? Update with answer below.
Congrats to K2 & w.Neff for identifying the make/model of this oddball, and Kaibeezy for finding the actual car. It is a 2004 Ssangyong Korando 4WD for sale here on craigslist in Long Beach, CA for $4,500 -- good luck getting a set of license plates on it...but let us know when you do.

Not a BMW
ReplyDeleteNot a 2JZ
Not a Jeep 4.0
My best guess is a Mercedes M104 engine

Delete1995 MERCEDES-BENZ S320
ReplyDeleteYep, Mid '90s Merc six, probably a W124.
ReplyDeleteIt is a Mercedes engine. It is NOT in a Mercedes, but it is a production automobile.

ReplyDeleteI keep this image for whenever a newb wants to know "Yo what chip is the best for my motor?"
Ssangyong Musso?
ReplyDeleteSsangyong Something is a good bet. Wikipedia says the M104 was used in the Musso and the Rexton.
DeleteI'll chip in and say a Ssangyong Korando based on the engine bay (or possibly a Chairman H).
DeleteK2 -- good job on finding the Korean link.
Deletew. neff -- this is indeed a 2004 Ssangyong Korando for sale in Long Beach, CA as tipped by Brian.
Thanks DT, but I didn't get this one correct. Cars never officially sold in the US are not my bailiwick and my completely random guess only had what you said (MB) and the logo to go on. Plus, I never even caught that this was an SUV. Congrats, w.neff!
DeleteYou guys are pretty amazing!
DeleteIt's a Mercedes Benz straight 6. Looks like a 90's 320SL.
ReplyDeleteHave no idea what the vehicle is and no time to go looking, but I love the pipe strap holding the 'cold air' intake in place.
