Mid Week Match-Up: CEO Budget Super Car

It is Wednesday so that means it's time for another edition of Daily Turismo's celebration of hump day, also known as Mid Week Match-Up!  Last week, we asked readers to find the best car for you could live in down by the river, and received lots of great suggestions.  Today we are going to go up market and ask our readers to find a super car for a newly promoted CEO, price range $50-75k.  


For $60k you could go find yourself a one or two year old BMW 650i or pay way too much for a BMW E30 M3, but you'd be wrong in either case.  What you really need is 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti currently bidding for $50,100 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go, located in Montclair, CA via eBay.


What could be better than a  5.7 liter V12 putting 536 horsepower into a 6-speed paddle shifted F1 style gearbox?

    Ferrari 360 coupe 6sp - like this one with 24k miles, $67k - prefer light blue metallic over black though

      If you drive through the typical DT car seller's neighborhood, you'll want to lock the doors in case you're attacked.

    God I wish I was this demographic.

    I would probably go with a Aston Martin Vantage or 360 Modena.

    A 6 liter V12 with a clutch pedal.

    For that kind of money, the only thing that says CEO to me is a Lotus Evora, perhaps an F type. What I'd do, though, is buy one of the last Jag XJS coupes in (what else) BRG, then spend the balance putting an Aston Martin V12 and six speed (with clutch pedal) into the car.

      Even as a petrol-head, I believe it or not, concur with your statement. Because technology, primarily. Clean titled 85kw units are really tough to find under the $75k cap, however. Might want to aim for the simply proletariat 60kw model.

      Picking nits perhaps, but the different models are 60kW-h / 85 kW-h....killowatt-hour referring to the battery capacity. The "P85" top performing model has a 310 kW (416hp) electric motor. Energy storage (kW-h) vs. power produced (kW); different units to describe each. Call me a pedant but the engineer in me has to point this out :-)

      Ah yes, forgot the "h" at the end. I also forgot the now defunct 40 kW-h (now with more -h!) if you're lucky enough to find one. Those things were the base model and brand new were right in the sweet spot of this comparo. Maybe I'm slipping in my old age.

    A new CEO's whose only making enough to drop (just) $75K on a car, still has a wife and kids to deal with; and there's no quicker way to undermine a new CEO's authority than to have his nearly new super car puking fluids in the parking lot. So... Cadillac CTS-V Sportwagon. With that spare $20k, he shows up every Friday wearing jeans and riding a Ducati!

    With all eyes on the new CEO, an S8 or (as mentioned above) a Tesla. Hidden performance in a conservative wrapper -- unless it's an ad agency -- then stupid showoff is expected.

    Very cool but I don't think that falls under the $75k cap ;-) (I mean, that was part of the game, right?)
