The predecessor to Ford of Europe's super cool Escort (not to be confused with the abysmal US based front-drive CE14 based Escort) was called the Anglia -- a patriotic name chosen a few months after the United Kingdom declared war on Germany in 1939. Production continued after the war and the Anglia was slowly morphed into a cool little car -- particularly good looking are 105E models (1959-1968).
