Thursday Twister: Single Spoke

This week's Thursday Twister, comes from DT reader Barbpaddles who suggested we look for cars that feature a single spoke steering wheel.  I like this idea as it makes arcane knowledge about cars just a little bit less useless.

20k: Eggplant Camembert: 1975 Maserati Merak

This Maserati Merak dates from a time when Citroën owned Maserati -- say what??  From 1968 through 1975, Maserati was owned and operated by Citroën resulting in the ultimate combination of Italian style with French flair for the dramatic.  The result is a healthy serving of Eggplant Camembert...which sounds equally wonderful and horrific at the same time....but I'd take a bite.  Find this 1975 Maserati Merak offered for $23,800 in Marina del Ray, CA via craigslist.

20k: Panterak: 1975 Maserati Merak, Chevy V8

The Maserati Merak was a V6 powered version of the Maserati Bora, sort of Maserati's version of the Ferrari Dino...built with sports car handling and super car looks, just a smaller/cheaper engine than its big brother.  The Merak dates from when Maserati was run by Citroën and was powered by V6 also used in the strange looking and kooky Citroën SM.  The Merak doesn't have the panache or following of the Dino so you could pick one up for cheap and swap a Chevy V8 into it without raising too many eyebrows.  Find this 1975 Maserati Merak with Chevy V8 currently bidding for $18,000 on ebay (reserve-not-met) in Tempe, AZ with 2 days to go.
