Low Mile Creampuff: 1988 Mazda RX-7 Convertible

The second generation Mazda RX-7 was known as the FC and over 270,000 examples were built in Japan from 1985-1991 for worldwide consumption.  The FC was, of course, powered by a Wankel rotary engine and featured the athletic reflexes matched by few cars in the 1980s. If you can live the eccentricities of the odd spinning thing under the hood, these cars are sublime to drive.  Find this 1988 Mazda RX-7 Convertible offered for $7,500 in Findlay, OH. Tip from Jeff.

5k: Frightfully Clean: 1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II

The FC generation Mazda RX-7 is currently languishing in the no-man's zone between a collectible classic and depreciated junk.  The savvy buyer might consider picking up cheap example and parking it in a barn for a few decades and then "discovering" it and flipping for big profit.  The Daily Tourist will pickup a perfectly clean condition 1 example, drive it for a few years till it is condition 2 or 3 and then sell it for a profit...because who wants to do a bunch of work on some crummy car just to let someone else drive it.  Here is a great clean condition RX-7 offered for nothing -- this 1987 Mazda Rx7 Turbo II is offered for $6,200 in Leesburg, AL  Tip from Jeff L who says "How often do you see a second generation (FC) RX-7 that hasn't been beat to crap or horribly modified, and it's a turbo to boot!  Looks minty fresh."

2k: Come And Get It: 1988ish Mazda RX-7 FC V8 Swap

The FC generation Mazda RX-7 was produced from 1986 thru 1991 and powered by the 13B rotary engine.  Unfortunately the 13B is about a reliable as a blind crossing guard and the resulting regular and catastrophic engine failures have created numerous cheap FC shells for sale.  Those shells often find themselves filled with cheap and powerful V8s...cue the burnouts & hooning.  Find this 1988ish RX-7 FC V8 for $2,200 located in Napa, CA via craigslist.  Thanks to tip from Jeffrey L.
