What Am I? Crate Engine

This week's What Am I? is another puzzle for the automotive nuts in the crowd, but I'm gonna level with you and admit that I don't know what this is.  It is a photo sent in by friend of DT Pierce who thought it might make a good puzzle.  



The engine in the crate -- what is it?  As my linear algebra professor used to say -- credit for correct answers will be given only if you show your work.

    Honda Civic Trunk Lid.

    Mopar 360 (or other small block Mopar V8). Distributor in back, angled plugs, molded valve covers.

      see? - i'm more impressed by this than some of my own... ok, many... ok, many, many, successful What Am I? solutions - because it requires actual knowledge as opposed to what i usually use which is mainly intuition + ok, excellent googling skills

      that doesn't mean i'm suggesting these puzzles go all mechanical technical - it's only to say this was a good one
