Surprisingly Affordable: 1977 Porsche 924 Turbo Martini & Rossi Edition

I wish I could tell you that I've got some magic crystal ball that'll tell me what makes/models are going to see serious appreciation in the next decade or two...because I would never have guessed that 80s Porsche 911s, 60s Ford Broncos or 90s Toyota Supras would trade for the coin they get these days...But i can tell you that there are cars that are rare, interesting, cool, and trade for 1/10th of what the "collectible" cars go for.  And this next car is ripe for some stupid speculation from the "cool kids"...so get 'em while they are cheap. Find this 1977 Porsche 924 Turbo Martini & Rossi Edition offered for $5000 in Apache Junction, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Martini & Wannabe: 1979 Porsche 924

The Porsche 924 is in an odd place in the if you ask me (and you did...right?) because everything else with a Porsche badge from the same era has appreciated into the trust or hedge fund price bracket.  But the 924 is an honest car, perhaps too honest, as it doesn't whisper into your ear that you are reincarnated Ayrton Senna before spinning backwards into a tree..but perhaps this next one will give you some of the same excitement and then make you a few bones when you sell it.  Find this 1979 Porsche 924 offered for $4,300 in Atlanta, GA via craigslist. 2k: Don't Drink and Drive: 1977 Porsche 924 Martini Edition

Porsche's 917 was a breathtaking yet deadly instrument used to bludgeon race car drivers with at least 600 horsepower, and onlookers with knee-weakening bodywork. Decked out in Martini livery, it's second in its visual presence only to the Gulf-liveried example made infamous by Steve McQueen in Le Mans. Such famous decoration could make any car look more alluring and sportier, as evidenced by this 924 that looks exorbitantly faster than it really is. Find this 1977 Porsche 924 Martini & Rossi Edition in Portland, OR for $2,225 with one day to go via eBay.

0.5k: Shaken And Stirred: 1977 Porsche 924 Martini Rossi Edition, Some Assy Required

The Porsche 924 was the bastard child of a joint Porsche/VW project and used a 4-cylinder Audi engine that was later shared with the AMC Gremlin.  From these humble beginnings Porsche started a water-cooled front-engine assault on the sports car market that left a considerable number of cheap P-cars spread throughout the world.  In 1977 Porsche released a limited edition of its 924 to commemorate the 1976 victories of the Martini Rossi Porsche 936.  Find this 1977 Porsche 924 Martini Edition in need of some restoration for $500 in Ventura, CA via craigslist.  Thanks to tip from Sean S.
