Honda CBR Power? 1961 Mini Marcos

The Mini Marcos (driven by Jean-Louis Marnat and Claude Ballot-Lena) was the only British car that was still running when the checkered flag dropped on the '66 24 Hours of Le Mans...which is odd because typically kit-cars don't run in prestigious French races.  However, the Austin Mini based classic transcends the normal label applied to kit-cars and is a great way to get into something rare/cool without dipping into your 401k.  Find this 1961 Mini Marcos offered for $10,000 in Escondido, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Otto Nobedder.

10k: Sick of Lookyloos: 1969 Marcos 1600 GT

Marcos was a small Welsh automobile manufacturer, founded in post war Britian by two gents (Jem Marsh and Frank Costin) who were inspired by the plywood framed aircraft that helped them win WWII.  Their first car was an ugly beast, but was competitive in racing when driven by chaps like Jackie Stewart and Jackie Oliver.  The next version was a much prettier car, still goofy and wooden framed, but built in limited quantities with engines borrowed from Ford, Volvo and Triumph.  Find this 1969 Marcos 1600 GT for sale in Alpharetta, GA currently bidding for $9,800 via ebay.
