15k: FD-V8: 1993 Mazda RX-7 w/ Chevy LS1 Power
The third generation Mazda RX-7 is an undeniably beautiful car with cat-like reflexes and a screaming turbocharged rotary engine. Unfortunately the Wankel powerplant is about as stable a Charlie Sheen in a box with a 24 pack of Red Bull and is often replaced with alloy block domestic V8s for more power and reliability. Find this 1993 Mazda RX7 with LS1 V8 and T56 6-spd for sale in Tampa Bay, FL for $14k via craigslist.

Wow, that's a great deal for a clean FD ls1/t56 swap. I'd swap the original headlights back and call it a day (at least until I decided to do a head/cams upgrade on the engine)
ReplyDeleteCool find, Daily Turismo! If it were located in the Pacific Northwest it'd be just perfect.

Message to sellers: if you've done an engine swap, you must must must show an engine bay picture. The quality of the install is the key decision for the buyer.
ReplyDeleteAs much as this type of swap is ideal considering the original engines shortcomings, my heart sheds a little JdM-tear at the thought of it. I predict original unmolested ones will cross the 50k mark in the next ten to twenty years. Buy one, stock up on OEM parts and swap back when Gen X kids are nearing age 50.
ReplyDeleteI have seen a few of this Gen swap RX-7 on Craigslist in the P.N.W. Area.
