4 wheels, 4 tires, 2 headlights: 1979 Oldsmobile 442

It's an unfortunate thing that the grand Olds 442 became analogous to season 7 of Bewitched or Bob Dylan's 36th studio album. Once quite good, by 1979 the 442 was patiently awaiting a death that no one was willing to execute.  Find this 1979 Oldsmobile 442 for sale in Charlotte, NC for an undisclosed amount of cash or things via craigslist.

In the late 1970's, the 442 was based on the Cutlass Salon, which was a rolling exercise in deception itself. The Salon wasn't actually a hatchback even though it was styled with such false pretenses in mind. Furthermore, the fake-hatch 442 - once meaning 4bbl. carb, 4-speed manual, dual exhaust - was available with a six cylinder for the last word in make believe.

Make fun of the Salon-based 442 we might, however, this car doesn't look to be in too terrible of shape. Also, the Salon wasn't really a bad looking car considering what else was tempting the North American buyer. Though there are a few places where the Carolina heat has baked off the paint, the body looks far better than most G-body cars out there. The 305 was swapped out for a 350 and the interior still has all of its tufting buttons

There aren't any decent engine shots but there is a photo of some faithfully replicated duals, a-la real 442. Those 14" rally wheels and white-letters-out don't look half bad either.
