First thought was an Alfa SZ. Entirely wrong answer, but that's what came to mind.

The reflection suggests that the photo has been turned 90 degrees - the brighter part on the left is the top. That would make the reflection make more sense. Beyond that, no clue.

Delete@kaibeezy -- Not an E12, but you are on the right track. That's the correct bit of language hiding the clue, just need to think more literally.

To be perfectly honest this probably is not an entirely fair "What Am I" because those strut tower caps were probably used on any number of different models over the years, and I don't think there is anything in the picture to distinguish one from the other.
But then the point was to turn the tables on DT, show how frustrated we can get with these images.
It is also unexpectedly showing ME how gleefully rewarding it can be to hook other people and watch them struggle. Muwhahaha! Now I know why DT does it.

You guys are so close, I might as well give it up. Mostly because I think it's time to put this old 2016 game to bed (and my hijacking of it) and focus on the joys that DT will surely bring to 2017. I'm hoping for some more features about running meth across the southeast.

You missed my clues. "be 11 guesses," and "not sure" if it's a BMW or not, depending upon how pedantic you want to be.
The car in question was a 1988 Alpina B11 with the 3.5 liter six. It was for sale last September on CL in Seattle for $9,950 with 99K miles.

ReplyDeleteZedo -- the problem with putting simple pictures is that people INSTANTLY identify them. Seldom does the What Am I? last more than a few hours, especially if I pick a car that is common. The Range Rover is very common, so I threw the curve ball of orientation to make it more difficult...too difficult? I dunno. Look at this super close crop of a Kaiser Darrin turn signal and it was solved within 17 minutes of posting. It would have taken me MONTHS to identify that oddball, but somebody saw it and it just clicked. For some reason this Range Rover side marker didn't click...perhaps, because of the sideways action or the fisheye effect of a wide angle camera lens (I did not add any additional distortion), but I think it was a fun game regardless.
